Probable execution of a Ukrainian prisoner. Ombudsman responded.

The Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets appealed to the UN and the International Committee of the Red Cross regarding the probable execution of a Ukrainian prisoner by the occupiers. The ombudsman reported this today on his Telegram channel.

The official responded to a new video on the internet showing the occupiers allegedly shooting a Ukrainian prisoner of war.

The shooting of a Ukrainian prisoner of war by Russians is a gross violation of the Geneva Conventions! After all, the country that takes prisoners is obliged to ensure the preservation of the prisoners' lives and is responsible for their treatment. Every such shooting requires a proper investigation, and the international community should not remain silent about the occupiers' systemic crimes. That is why I report and send letters to the ICRC and the UN on all facts of alleged killings of Ukrainian prisoners of war. These international organizations must force Russia to comply with international humanitarian law and document every violation.

He recalled that our war is of a hybrid nature.

Russia deliberately shoots Ukrainian prisoners of war and spreads such videos in the information space. In this way, the occupiers want to intimidate Ukrainians. But in reality, they only show their true face – the face of a terrorist and a murderer. At the same Time, all information always requires detailed verification. Do not trust everything the enemy spreads.

Let us remind you that the Bureau of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe made a decision to hold urgent debates on Ukrainian military and civilians who are held in Russian captivity. 

By the way, the Donetsk regional prosecutor's office has started an investigation into the fact of a war crime committed by Russian occupiers in the Toretsk direction. According to preliminary information, three Ukrainian servicemen were shot in the back after they surrendered.
