The government allowed foreigners to serve as officers in the Armed Forces of Ukraine: what has changed

According to ТСН: The government of Ukraine has approved a new draft decree that expands opportunities for foreign citizens and stateless persons wishing to serve in the military.

Officer contracts and new rules

As reported by the Prime Minister of Ukraine, Yulia Svyrydenko, these categories of individuals will now be able to sign officer contracts and serve in the State Special Transport Service.

Special verification and contract signing

Recruiting centers have received a new algorithm for conducting special verification of foreigners. The process of signing and extending contracts, awarding military ranks, and the grounds for dismissal will be clearly regulated.

Equal conditions for all

Men and women serving under contract will have equal conditions. Thanks to the new provisions, foreigners will gain the opportunity not only to sign contracts but also to advance in their careers to officer positions, significantly enhancing the personnel potential of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

New contracts for servicemen

In addition, the government has also approved a draft law that introduces new contracts for servicemen. These contracts will be signed for a term of one to five years and will include financial incentives such as annual bonuses and additional rewards for participation in combat operations.

Social guarantees

Among the innovations are social guarantees: servicemen with contracts for two to five years will be able to use the right to deferment from mobilization for 12 months after the end of the contract.

Availability of contracts

New contracts will be available to all soldiers, sergeants, and officers of all security and defense forces, including the Armed Forces, National Guard, State Border Guard Service, and other formations. The right to sign contracts will also be granted to reservists, mobilized servicemen, and those who are already serving under contract and plan to renew it.

These changes in contracts and service rules may significantly affect the personnel policy of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. With the possibility of signing contracts for foreigners and new social guarantees, Ukraine is striving to attract more qualified specialists into its army, which may positively impact the overall defense potential of the country.
