According to The Sun: Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban have been living 'separate lives' for three years before she filed for divorce, citing 'irreconcilable differences.'

The 58-year-old actress tried to save their 19-year marriage, but the 57-year-old country singer, who has struggled with alcoholism and drug issues, decided six months ago that he could no longer continue the union.

According to an insider:

“Keith had his demons, and Nicole needed him to not drink if they wanted to save the marriage.”

The couple hardly saw each other as Nicole filmed movies back-to-back, while Keith went on a world tour. This has significantly impacted their relationship, reflected in their 'separate paths' for the last three years.

Nicole was reportedly 'shocked' by Keith's decision to file for divorce after years of supporting him in his battle with addiction.

She filed for divorce today, and sources in the US claim the singer has already met 'another woman.'

The four-time Grammy winner secretly purchased his own property in Nashville earlier this year, and he and Nicole have maintained contact 'mainly by phone.'

Documents filed in Davidson County court in Nashville indicate 'irreconcilable differences' in the marriage.

A parenting plan for their daughters — Sunday, 17, and Faith, 14 — has also been submitted to the court for approval, where Nicole is listed as the primary custodian.

It is known that neither party will receive alimony, and each will retain all property, including copyrights and royalties.

Nicole was seen with a ring on her finger just days before the news of the divorce was published.

An insider noted:

“They are both wonderful, friendly people, and on paper, it was all supposed to work out — and it did for at least a few happy years.”

“But Keith has always had his demons, and it was important for Nicole that he not drink if the marriage was to work.”

“There were huge difficulties due to their work schedules, and that made things even harder.”

“They became two ships passing in the night.”

Babygirl Film Became a Burden for Nicole

Nicole also faced difficulties while filming the erotic thriller Babygirl set to release in 2024.

An insider noted: “This film proved difficult for her mental and physical health.”

“She was forced to fake several orgasms daily, and that became a hard experience for any married couple.”

They will, of course, continue to see their children and work on maintaining friendship and family ties.

The couple's net worth is estimated at 250 million pounds, and it is believed that they do not have a prenup.

They own several properties around the world, including a duplex in Manhattan, a estate in Beverly Hills, and multiple apartments in Sydney.

A source also added: “Both Keith and Nicole have achieved great success in their careers, so money is not a significant issue right now.”

The Australian actress and her country singer husband were last seen together in June at the FIFA Club World Cup match in Nashville.

Notably, Keith has not been present in Nicole's Instagram 'summer memories' where she shares photos with her daughters and younger sister Antonia.

Keith has undergone rehabilitation multiple times, including in the late '90s for drug addiction. In 2006, he suffered a significant relapse, publicly apologizing to his wife.

The singer acknowledged the danger of relapse in May 2022 while promoting the European leg of his world tour, which involved eight months on stage far from his wife.

He decided to skip an invitation to a party, saying: “I know that if I go back there, it will be the end of my marriage — without a doubt.”

Doesn't Like Personal Questions

When Keith responded to a question about the intimate scene with Nicole on Australian radio, it became a sign of trouble in their marriage. Subsequently, he allegedly ended the video call.

However, his spokesperson later clarified: “He doesn't like personal questions. He doesn't like talking about his wife. It's private.”

They assured that it wasn't done intentionally.

Before Keith, Nicole was married to Hollywood star Tom Cruise. They met in 1989 while filming 'Days of Thunder' and married the following year, adopting two children.

However, in 2001, Tom left his wife, leaving her 'devastated,' filing for divorce after 11 years of marriage.

She later admitted that she considered her relationship 'perfect — until it ended.'

Nicole also dated American rocker Lenny Kravitz in 2003, and the couple got engaged, but their relationship ended due to busy work schedules.

Meanwhile, Keith, who was born in New Zealand and later moved to Australia, achieved stardom in country music, having several successful partnerships.

In the early 2000s, he dated supermodel Niki Taylor, who appeared in the video for his song “Someone Like You.” They were together for two years, having matching tattoos.

However, Keith has always struggled with alcohol and addiction issues, which led to their breakup.

In 2005, he met Nicole in Los Angeles, and the following year they married in her hometown of Sydney.

Representatives for Keith and Nicole were requested for comment.
