Belarus and Iran intend to deepen bilateral ties in all areas, including defense. This was stated by the leaders of the countries during negotiations in Minsk. According to Reuters, they agreed to work on an agreement on strategic partnership, reports FREEДOM.
Belarusian dictator Lukashenko added that Minsk and Tehran could cooperate in a number of areas, including military-technical cooperation.
It is worth noting that Lukashenko allowed Russia to use Belarusian territory as a launch pad for a full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, while Iran supplied Russia with Shahed drones for use in the war. Currently, both countries are under Western sanctions, which Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian considers illegal. He stated Iran's readiness to help Belarus 'neutralize' such measures, emphasizing that the country has over 40 years of experience in this area.
