Iryna Soponaru on marriage with a Brit: how to overcome the difference in mentality.
According to ТСН: Ukrainian actress and star of "Women's Quarter" Iryna Soponaru shared her life in marriage with a foreigner Riz. Her husband is from the United Kingdom and is a big supporter of Ukraine. Riz has visited the country several times, which sparked their romance.
Sensitive moments in the relationship
In an interview with Ivan Morozov, Iryna revealed that a sense of humor became the foundation of their relationship. However, the difference in mentality manifests itself in many aspects. The actress emphasized that Riz is quite reserved, unlike her, who freely expresses her emotions.
"We fell in love with each other, and this is not about where he is from and where I am from. Just two people. He is very polite and reserved. The British have an incredible sense of humor. My husband is very funny. I couldn't be with a man without a sense of humor — this is proven. But Riz is very reserved and takes things seriously. And I, on the contrary, am very emotional and constantly tease him," Iryna laughed.
Financial habits
Soponaru also shared about financial habits. At first, she was surprised by the tradition of splitting the budget in half, but with Riz's arrival, she began to understand this practice. Iryna noted that Riz is aware of Ukrainian habits of care and attention, as he has visited Ukraine many times.
"At one time, the 50/50 split was shocking for me. I couldn't understand it. But then they explained to me that it's how they do it. And it is true. But I didn't need to explain anything to Riz. He knows how we do things because he has been to Ukraine many times and has had romances with Ukrainian girls. He knows that we love it when someone takes care of us. In this regard, he is attentive," the artist admitted.
Iryna and Riz's relationship demonstrates how cultural differences can influence everyday life. Their story is an example of how important it is to understand one another, regardless of origin. The actress is truly grateful that her husband has embraced Ukrainian traditions and customs, which only strengthens their relationship.
