Israel launched a series of airstrikes on the southern areas of Beirut (video).


On Saturday, October 6, Israeli military carried out five airstrikes on the southern outskirts of Beirut. According to official Lebanese media, four of these strikes were extremely strong. According to the Lebanese national news agency, the airstrikes targeted the southern suburbs of Beirut and the Chouaifat area. Ambulances were immediately dispatched to the scene. The Guardian reported this.
AFP journalists in Beirut noted several powerful explosions. Videos from the scene show clouds of smoke rising from the missile impact sites; one of the strikes even caused a fireball to rise into the air, and thick smoke enveloped entire areas.

Despite the airstrikes, the Lebanese national news agency reported that Beirut International Airport continues to operate as usual, and air traffic has not been disrupted.
