Scammers Using Artificial Intelligence Technology

According to The Sun: Jennifer Aniston stated that scammers created fake copies of her image that look so realistic that even her family and close friends have fallen victim to this deception. The actress, known for her role in the TV series 'Friends', discovered that deepfakes involving her appeared in advertisements for weight loss products and collagen supplements.

Jennifer notes that these fake videos are so realistic that her loved ones often send her advertisements asking if she really participated in them.

“This is a very unsettling thing happening in the world with AI.

I get things from family and friends asking if I’m promoting this product, or if I filmed this video?”

Financial Frauds

Such scams lead to her fans losing money. This summer, 43-year-old Paul Davis shared that he was scammed when he believed he was in a relationship with Jennifer after receiving AI-generated videos and messages that were supposedly from her.

These messages referred to him as “my love” and included flirty emojis and even images of Jennifer holding a sign saying she loves him.

Paul, who is unemployed and struggling with depression, quickly fell victim to manipulation. He was sent an image that looked like Jennifer’s driver’s license, after which a request for money followed.

“I received fake videos from Jennifer Aniston asking me for £200 and saying that she loves me. I paid, and I became a victim. Once you fall for it — you stay cautious for life.”

In the Show, Jennifer Discusses AI Issues

This issue is so important that Jennifer decided to address the dangers of artificial intelligence and deepfakes in the fourth season of her show on Apple TV+, which premiered this month. She plays host Alex Levy, who explores how easily truth can be manipulated.

Jennifer also noted that her personal life is going well — she has found love with wellness author and coach Jim Curtis, and their relationship is developing quickly.

Jennifer says: “It’s great when women have the opportunity to watch a show featuring women in power, and to see how far we’ve come in 25 years.”

Solent

Despite her thirty years in show business, Jennifer noted that she prefers the comfort of her own home in a luxurious suburb of Los Angeles over attending glamorous events, and she has never attended the prestigious Met Gala.

She concludes: “I’m a homebody, but I also enjoy looking at such things; it’s fun.”

This case with Jennifer Aniston highlights the importance of having a balanced perspective on artificial intelligence technologies and deepfakes, which are increasingly being used as tools for fraudulent schemes. The situation with Paul Davis and his experience reminds us of the need to be cautious in believing messages, especially in a digital age where the line between truth and falsehood is becoming increasingly blurred.
