Odesa's Sports School to Undergo Major Renovation with 61.5 Million Hryvnia Investment.
Major Overhaul for Sports School
According to Novyny.live: A major renovation project has been planned for Odesa's Children and Youth Sports School No. 5, as part of the city's sports development program. The initiative aims to significantly upgrade the training environment and provide proper infrastructure for the school's athletes.
The school, located on Mykhaila Komarova Street, occupies a building of approximately 2,600 square meters. The estimated cost for the overhaul is about 61.5 million hryvnias. The first step will be a procurement tender for the development of detailed project and cost-estimate documentation. This investment is a notable commitment to public sports facilities in Ukraine, which often require modernization.
School's Role and Previous Works
The school is a hub for youth sports, offering training in rhythmic gymnastics, boxing, badminton, and handball to roughly 400 students. This highlights its active role and importance in the city's athletic community. It is worth noting that a procurement for a major renovation at the same address was initiated back in 2018. Subsequently, in 2021, a tender was announced to adjust the renovation plans and improve the surrounding grounds, with an expected cost exceeding 36,165,000 hryvnias.
The planned comprehensive renovation represents a crucial step in developing the school's infrastructure, which is expected to enhance the quality of training and preparation for its young athletes.
This project for Sports School No. 5 is a component of the Odesa city government's broader strategy to improve sports facilities across the municipality. The goals extend beyond increasing comfort and safety for young athletes to also attracting new participants to active sports. Such initiatives are vital for fostering local athletic development and raising the standard of athlete training, which can, in turn, positively impact the city's overall sporting achievements.
