The number of students in Ukrainian schools has decreased due to the war, but no layoffs of teachers are planned. This was reported by the Minister of Education Oksen Lisovyi.
According to the ministry, since the beginning of the war, the number of students has decreased by 300 thousand, and the teaching staff by 10 thousand.
“I fear that we will still lack teachers,” said Lisovyi, explaining the reasons for the reduction in the number of teachers. The minister also noted that in some regions of Ukraine there is a significant demand for teachers. Especially needed are mathematicians, English teachers, and computer science teachers.
Even the reduction in the number of students does not affect the need for qualified educators. The education sector still needs them.
