Big Air Freestyle Skiing Competition Concludes
According to Novyny.live: The women's freestyle skiing big air event at the Olympic Games has concluded, with Ukrainian athlete Kateryna Kotsar securing a tenth-place finish. This result now stands as a Ukrainian national record in the sport. While twelve skiers originally qualified for the final, only ten competed after Matilde Gremaud and Anouk Andraska withdrew due to injuries. Big air, a discipline where skiers perform tricks off a massive jump, made its Olympic debut recently.
Kateryna Kotsar executed three jumps during the final:
- Her first jump earned a score of 82.00 points,
- The second jump received 72.00 points,
- Her third jump was awarded 74.00 points.
Kotsar's final score of 156.00 points was calculated from the sum of her two best jumps. The gold medal was won by American skier Megan Oldham with a score of 180.75 points. Silver went to Eileen Gu with 179.00 points, and Flora Tabanelli claimed the bronze medal with a score of 178.25 points.
