Cybersecurity: Ukrainians have started to encounter phone scammers more often.

According to a survey, 62% of Ukrainians faced attacks from cybercriminals and scammers over the past year. A third of respondents (30%) learned about such cases from their acquaintances.

Rakuten Viber, part of the Rakuten Group, conducted a survey among Ukrainian users.

The survey revealed that 62% of Ukrainians encountered cybercriminals and scammers in the past year. A third of users (30%) heard about such cases from their surroundings.

'When asked, 'Have you encountered cyber and phone scammers in the past year?' the responses were distributed as follows:
  • Yes - 62%
  • No, but I heard about such cases from acquaintances - 30%
  • No, I haven’t even heard about such cases - 8%

According to the survey, 39% of Ukrainians did everything possible to better understand cybersecurity. This is significantly more than last year when only 21% made such a decision. Only 28% of Ukrainians show no interest in cybersecurity, which is also a significant decrease compared to January 2024, when this figure was 50%.

Responses to the question 'In your opinion, have you become better at understanding cybersecurity over the past year?' were distributed as follows:
  • Probably yes, I’m doing everything for that - 39% (21% in 2024)
  • I am not interested in this issue - 28% (50% in 2024)
  • Probably no, I haven’t read anything purposefully - 21% (17% in 2024)
  • I have always understood it well - 7% (6% in 2024)
  • I have greatly improved in this field, now I can give lectures - 5% (6% in 2024)
