Cat Went Missing for a Year and Returned: Home Already Had Its Identical Doppelganger.
According to ТСН: A woman who lost her cat for an entire year was incredibly surprised when he suddenly returned home. It turned out that another cat, which looked absolutely like her beloved pet, was already living in her house.
She posted a video of this event on Tik-Tok.
In the footage, both cats sit opposite each other, as if observing their reflection.
In the video, it says: 'When you've lost a cat and someone found him six months later, and your real cat returns a year later.'
According to the Animal Humane Society, one in three pets in the USA goes missing during their lifetime, which amounts to about 10 million animals a year, and not all of them return home.
In the comments under the video, users joke that the cats are supposedly 'checking each other's fraud,' and some even compare the situation to 'identity theft.'
Other viewers share their stories about similar cases: 'My sister's black cat went missing a year ago, she got a new black cat, and last summer the missing one returned. Now she has two black cats.'
The woman also published a video showing both cats mimicking each other's positions, separated by just a few meters. Their big eyes reflect the shock from this amazing encounter.
The British organization Cats Protection explains that cats often go missing due to stress at home, illness, accidental confinement in sheds or garages, or during long journeys.
Most cats stay nearby, but some can cover up to 80 miles. Thanks to their strong homing instinct, cats use smell, memory, and possibly the Earth's magnetic field to find their way home, even after a long time.
The organization advises owners with missing cats to search the surroundings, check garages and closets, use familiar scents, involve neighbors, update microchip information, and spread announcements on social media and pet search websites.
Clients confirm that this strange meeting became a vivid example of how animals can have unusual journeys and tribulations. Stories from people who have experienced similar situations show how important pets are in our lives, as well as that there is always hope for their return. Every returned cat is a little miracle!
