Ukrainian mobile device users are increasingly noticing the appearance of the letter "E" on their smartphones, which is accompanied by a deterioration in connection quality and Internet speed.

This is explained by the fact that the device switches to the EDGE (Enhanced Data rates for GSM Evolution) communication standard, which is intermediate between 2G and 3G. The data transfer rate according to this standard is up to 384 kbps, which is sufficient for text messages but not enough for comfortable video viewing and downloading large files.

The appearance of the letter "E" on a smartphone can be associated with several reasons. This often occurs outside the city where there is no coverage with more modern communication standards. It can also be due to power outages when operators reduce the load on base stations.

The letter "E" often appears in places with a weak signal, such as basement rooms, elevators, dense forests, or mountainous areas. In densely populated areas, this can be due to a large number of users of the same operator. It also often happens in remote villages and steppe zones.

To improve connection quality when the "E" appears, you can try several methods:

  • Restart the mobile Internet by turning on airplane mode for 10-15 seconds and then turning it off.
  • Change the network type in the phone settings, selecting "3G/2G (auto)" instead of automatic network selection in the "Mobile data and SIM cards" section.
  • Manually choose the network operator in the SIM card settings, which sometimes helps restore a stable connection.

If the problem persists in a certain location, it might be worth considering changing the network operator. However, it is important to check the quality of coverage of other operators in the area before doing so.

It is worth noting that the appearance of the letter "E" does not always indicate problems with the device. It is often related to the features of mobile communication infrastructure in a particular area or temporary technical difficulties.
