NBA Club Offered Contract to Ukrainian Basketball Player.
'Boston Celtics' tested 23-year-old Ukrainian point guard Maksym Shulha in the NBA Summer League. The club previously selected the player with the 57th pick in the draft.
'Boston' offered Shulha a two-way contract after the Summer League, reports CelticsBlog.
Shulha May Not Play in the NBA
In the Summer League in Las Vegas, Shulha played five games, averaging five points, 3.8 assists, and had only 0.8 turnovers per game.
The team coach, Matt Reynolds, noted the Ukrainian's stability and defensive play after the first games. 'He doesn’t lose his cool, is always composed, pressures the ball, and organizes the game,' said the specialist.
Shulha, known as a playmaker, spent three years at the University of Utah and two seasons at Virginia Commonwealth, where he averaged 10.1 points and shot 39.2% from three-point range throughout his career.
Under the two-way contract, Shulha will earn $636,435 in his debut season but will spend most of his time with the 'Maine Celtics' in the G-League. He could appear in up to 50 games for the main team of 'Boston'.
During the NBA Summer League, Ukrainian basketball player Maksym Shulha impressed the coach and fans of the 'Boston Celtics' with his game. Although he may start his career in the farm club, the opportunity to play for the main team already brings hope for a successful career in the NBA.Read also
