According to The Guardian, FIFA is considering expanding the Club World Cup to 48 teams if the current tournament proceeds successfully. This year, 32 clubs are competing for the first time in the new format. Premier League clubs are strongly demanding the removal of restrictions on the number of teams from one country. Under the new rules, the expansion of the tournament will only concern clubs that do not qualify for the tournament based on their performance in cup competitions.
The Club World Cup is one of the largest tournaments of the summer of 2025 in men's football. For the first time, the competition will be held in a new format from June 15 to July 13 at stadiums in the USA, where the World Cup for national teams will take place in 2026.
