Kostyuk reached the third round of the US Open.
According to inkorr.com: Ukrainian tennis player Marta Kostyuk won against Turkish athlete Zeynep Sonmez in the second round of the US Open, thus advancing to the third round. This was reported by 'Glavcom', citing 'Suspilne Sport'.
Marta is the only Ukrainian tennis player who managed to get through the first round of the US Open, as other representatives from Ukraine - Dayana Yastremska, Elina Svitolina, and Yulia Starodubtseva - were eliminated from the tournament.
The first set started with Kostyuk making a run with three games won in a row. Sonmez managed to equalize the score, but at the finish, the Ukrainian player won 7:5.
In the second set, Sonmez initially took the initiative, but Kostyuk showed character and won the tiebreak, securing a victory with a score of 7:6.
