France refuses to host the Junior Eurovision: who will hold the contest in 2026.
According to ТСН: The winning country of 'Junior Eurovision-2025' has decided not to host the contest next year and has explained its decision.
The winner was young French singer Lou Deleze with the song Ce monde. Initially, it was planned that the next 'Junior Eurovision' would take place in France. However, on December 18, a meeting of the board of directors of the French broadcaster France Télévisions took place, where it was decided to refuse to organize the contest.
The French broadcaster noted that this decision is due to financial difficulties. There was a significant deficit in the organization's budget, so they plan to save 140 million euros next year.
The second place at 'Junior Eurovision-2025' was taken by the representative of Ukraine, Sofia Nersesyan, with the song 'Motanka'. Although it would be logical for the founding country to host the contest, the situation in Ukraine, where a war is ongoing, complicates such an opportunity. Therefore, holding 'Junior Eurovision' in Ukraine remains impossible.
Meanwhile, Austria is actively preparing for 'Eurovision-2026'. Recently, the organizers amazed the audience with their grand stage, and also announced new rules for viewers next year.
This situation with 'Junior Eurovision' underscores the difficulties organizations face in the context of financial challenges. France, although ready to host the contest, unexpectedly encountered the inability to implement it. At the same time, Austria continues to work on its project, indicating activity within European music events.
