Russia claims that it will consider strikes by Ukraine on Russian targets, including transport infrastructure, using German Taurus missiles as 'direct participation' by Berlin in the war. Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova stated that any strikes with Taurus missiles on Russian transport infrastructure will be regarded as direct involvement by Germany in hostilities on the side of Ukraine. This warning was issued after the potential German Chancellor Friedrich Merz expressed the possibility of supplying Taurus missiles to Ukrainian troops. Merz's decision was supported in the European Union, with the United Kingdom, in particular, backing the transfer of Taurus missiles to Ukraine.
