In Iran, Rains Turned Water into Blood: A Scientific Explanation of the Mystical Phenomenon.
According to ТСН: In Iran, where this year the driest autumn has been observed in the last 50 years, it finally rained. However, on Hormuz Island, the precipitation caused not only relief but also an unusual sight: the water flowing into the sea had taken on a red hue.
Mystical Phenomenon
Videos and photos of the richly red water quickly spread through social media, provoking an active response from users. Some of them immediately associated it with biblical prophecies.
"Blood in the water is a sign of the apocalypse, primarily derived from the biblical Book of Revelation... which describes how angels pour out bowls that turn seas, rivers, and springs into blood as a divine judgment," wrote one user.
Others joked that if this happened in ancient Egypt, it could have started a new religion, but they said, "Fortunately, people today are smart enough to know the science."
It is unclear when these viral clips were filmed: they could have been the result of the rains from December 10 or archival videos from March when something similar was observed.
Scientific Explanation
In reality, there is nothing mystical about this phenomenon. Hormuz Island is famous for its unique soil, which contains iron oxide, capable of coloring the earth in yellow and brown hues.
The mineral hematite, which is a form of iron oxide, gives the soil its characteristic red tint. During the rain, water washes minerals from the soil and rocks, which, flowing into the sea, color the water red.
The red beach on Hormuz has gained popularity due to this natural phenomenon.
It is worth noting that the biblical Sea of Galilee also turned blood-red, causing fear among local residents and tourists; however, experts explained this with natural causes.
Thus, the natural phenomenon on Hormuz Island, while provoking many emotions and biblical associations, has a completely scientific explanation. This once again confirms that nature often creates impressive yet understandable phenomena that can be explained without mystical theories.
