Latvia Calls on Ukrainian Drone Experts to Bolster Airspace Defense.
Ukrainian Experts Arrive in Latvia
According to UATV: Next week, a team of Ukrainian specialists in unmanned systems will travel to Latvia. Their mission is to assess the current situation and strengthen the protection of the country's airspace. Latvian Prime Minister Andris Kulbergs confirmed that these experts will identify the most effective technologies for countering drones.
According to official statements, anti-drone systems could be deployed in Latvia by the end of this year. This move comes in response to repeated incursions of Latvian airspace by Russian drones. In addition, Latvia has begun installing concrete anti-tank barriers known as "dragon's teeth" along its border with Russia.
Strengthening Security Amid Rising Threats
Andris Kulbergs stated: 'Anti-drone systems based on Ukrainian expertise could be operational in Latvia as early as the end of this year.'
With these actions, the country is ramping up efforts to reinforce its security in the face of growing threats from unmanned aerial vehicles.
The arrival of Ukrainian specialists underscores the critical importance of bilateral security cooperation, particularly in addressing modern drone-based threats. As tensions mount on Europe’s eastern flank, Latvia is working to safeguard its airspace and national interests by leveraging cutting-edge technologies provided by Ukrainian experts. This initiative also reflects the country’s active pursuit of international support to enhance its defense capabilities amid an unstable regional security environment.
