Ukrainian Lozan sensationally defeated the favorite at the WBC Grand Prix: how it happened.
The quarter-finals of the World Boxing Council (WBC) Grand Prix took place in Riyadh. A sensational bout occurred due to the Ukrainian Danil Lozan in the first welterweight category.
Lozan's sensational victory
The opponent of the Ukrainian was the tournament favorite Sanatali Toltaev from Kazakhstan. Danil complicated the situation for him already in the second round, sending him to the canvas with a powerful blow.
In the third round, the Ukrainian continued to apply pressure, not allowing the opponent to get close. However, violations by Toltaev spoiled the fight due to deep cuts on Lozan's head.
A doctor near the ring advised stopping the fight due to intense bleeding. The judges opted for a technical decision due to the violation by the Kazakh.
Lozan addressed the Ukrainians and especially the military, expressing readiness to help on peaceful soil. In the semi-finals, Lozan will face Uzbek Tursunov.
