PSG won the UEFA Super Cup in a dramatic match: what Luis Enrique said.
The French 'PSG' won the UEFA Super Cup against 'Tottenham'
The football club 'PSG' from France kicked off the new season with a victory against 'Tottenham' in the UEFA Super Cup match. The game ended in a 2:2 draw, but in the penalty shootout, Luis Enrique's team proved to be stronger.
The head coach of 'PSG' admitted after the match that he does not consider this success entirely deserved, the club's official website reports.
Luis Enrique believes that 'Tottenham' was better prepared for the match than his team, which had only a few training sessions after the break. Despite this, 'PSG' managed to equalize twice and achieve a hard-fought victory in penalties.
What Luis Enrique said about the 'PSG' game
This trophy for the fans has become a symbol of a new beginning and confirmation of the club's ambitions in Europe. The 'PSG' coach emphasized that the victory helps overcome all the difficulties during preparation.
'We only had five training sessions, while the opponent prepared for much longer. Therefore, I don’t think we completely deserved this victory, but I am very happy for the players and fans. They supported us even when the score was 0:1 and 0:2. This trophy is important, although right now we are thinking more about the start of the season,' said Luis Enrique.
Ukrainian footballer Ilya Zabarniy, who recently joined the team, was unable to participate in this game as he was not in the squad. PSG's next match will be in Ligue 1 against 'Nantes' on August 17.
In this match, 'PSG' showed real fighting spirit and a remarkable victory, which the coach acknowledged was not entirely deserved due to the opponent's excellent preparation. The victory was a boost for the team at the start of the new season and also confirmed its ambitions for future competitions.
