Manchester City enters the battle for Guehi: which club has a better chance.
Manchester City may join the race for Marc Guehi, but only if center-backs Manuel Akanji and Nathan Ake are sold this week.
According to The Sun: The Crystal Palace defender, who has just one year left on his contract, has already been identified as a target for Liverpool, Tottenham, and Barcelona.
Guehi knows that he can leave for free next summer if he doesn't sign a new contract at Selhurst.
According to The Daily Star, Manchester City sees the 25-year-old Guehi as a potential signing for £35 million if they lose both Akanji and Ake from Pep Guardiola's squad.
Galatasaray is interested in 30-year-old Akanji, while Everton, who have already secured a loan deal for Jack Grealish, are interested in Ake.
If both players leave the club before the transfer window closes next Monday, interest in Guehi will grow.
This would put Manchester City on a collision course with Liverpool, which has long been in the race for the Palace defender.
Guardiola is trying to trim his squad, and Guehi's pace and potential make him an appealing option.
The coach also defended goalkeeper James Trafford, who made an error before Tottenham's second goal.
Manchester City has already attracted players like Ryan Cherki from Lyon and Ryan Ait-Nouri from Wolverhampton, but those at the Etihad feel they need someone like Guehi to elevate their central defenders to a new level.
The message emphasizes that Manchester City could join the fight for the signing of defender Marc Guehi if Manuel Akanji and Nathan Ake are sold. Guardiola is seriously considering Guehi as an option to strengthen his squad, but it all depends on the further development of transfer negotiations.Read also
