Manchester City announces transfers of Akanji and Ederson: who is next

According to The Sun: The football club "Manchester City" announced the departure of two team stars who were champions of last season, in just one hour.

Centre-back Manuel Akanji, 30 years old, left the club and joined "Inter" on a one-year loan with an option to buy.

Akanji signed a loan agreement with a buy option, and the loan cost for "Inter" will be 870,000 pounds, while the buy option is estimated at about 13 million pounds.

Previously, other clubs such as "Tottenham" and "Crystal Palace" also showed interest in Akanji, and "Galatasaray" considered the possibility of signing him. However, "Inter" acted quickly, and Akanji realized that his time at "City" was coming to an end - with only a few hours left until the transfer window closed.

The player joined "City" three years ago for 15 million pounds and became an important figure during the team's triumph in the first season, playing 136 matches and winning two Premier League titles, the FA Cup, and the Champions League.

Akanji became the second player to leave the team after goalkeeper Ederson transferred permanently to "Fenerbahçe" this morning.

Ederson signed with "Fenerbahçe", with a transfer fee of 11 million pounds.

The 32-year-old goalkeeper decided to leave "City" after coach Pep Guardiola signed two new goalkeepers this summer.

Important changes

Guardiola signed goalkeeper James Trafford from "Burnley" last month and Italian Gianluigi Donnarumma on transfer deadline day.

In a long farewell statement, Ederson noted:

“I leave "Manchester City" with an incredible pride in what we have achieved together, and it is an honor to wear this shirt so many times.'

He added:

“Under Pep's leadership, we won Premier League titles and conquered Europe. It was incredible.”

Ederson became an important part of Guardiola's era, winning six Premier League titles and playing over 370 matches.

The departures of Ederson and Akanji may also signal a farewell to captain Ilkay Gündoğan, who is in talks with "Galatasaray."
