According to estimates, Manchester United's squad has lost £118 million in value compared to October 2024, despite spending £215 million this summer. The team was strengthened by Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha, Benjamin Šeško, and goalkeeper Senne Lammens, but Alejandro Garnacho was sold, while Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, Antony, and André Onana were sent on loan.

Despite summer signings, Ruben Amorim's team is not showing progress. After a win over Sunderland, they sit in 10th place in the Premier League, with six points behind the leader – Arsenal, and just six points above the relegation zone. The next challenge will be a match at Anfield after the international break.

According to CIES, the current value of Manchester United's squad stands at £710 million, which is down from £828 million a year ago, even with the strengthening of the pound against the euro. In the end, the team is ranked 12th in the table, with Chelsea leading.

The decline in player values raises concerns about the team’s strategy, as United faces increasing competitiveness from Brighton.

According to CIES, Fabian Hurzel's squad is valued at £719 million, allowing Brighton to surpass European giants like Atlético Madrid, Juventus, and AC Milan. This indicates successful work by the coach in player development, with the overall value rising by approximately £50 million over the past year.

The situation regarding the transfer values of Manchester United and Brighton clearly demonstrates the changing sentiments in the football world. Manchester United, once one of Europe’s top clubs, is facing significant challenges in competing with new ambitious teams like Brighton, which continue to develop and gain momentum in the Premier League.
