Manchester United players demand changes in goal: who could replace Onana.
Team Changes at Manchester United
According to The Sun: Players from 'Manchester United' believe that 39-year-old third goalkeeper Tom Heaton could be the optimal solution to the goalkeeper issue. Several first-team players are convinced that Heaton has outperformed Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir in training and deserves a chance on the pitch.
The goalkeeper problems began when the club spent £43 million on Onana from 'Inter' in 2023. Since replacing David De Gea, Onana has had both successful moments and failures, keeping 24 'clean' matches but also making several serious errors.
Coach Amorim started the season with Bayindir in goal against 'Arsenal', but he made a fatal error that resulted in a 0-1 loss for the team. Following that, Bayindir struggled with shots in the game against 'Fulham', and another mistake led to a goal from 'Burnley', ending in a 2-2 draw.
On Wednesday, Onana also faced criticism after conceding both goals from 'Grimsby' and failing to save a penalty in the shootout, causing 'United' to lose 11-12.
Sources claim that Heaton, who has played only three matches for 'United' since returning in 2021, deserves a chance.
"Evaluating performances in training, some guys think that Tom deserves a chance. He is very experienced, takes care of himself, and is a key member of the team," sources noted.
Heaton began his career at 'United' in the youth team from 2002 to 2005, and played at the senior level from 2005 to 2010. After that, he played on loan, returning to the club in 2021. He is currently one of six first-team players responsible for maintaining the atmosphere in the locker room.
Amorim defended Onana after the loss in the Carabao Cup, stating: "This is not about Andre. It's not the goalkeeper. It's more than that. It's all of us."
Additionally, 'United' is in talks to sign 'Royal Antwerp' goalkeeper Senne Lammens for £17 million. Onana, for his part, emphasized that he is determined to stay at 'United' and fight for his place in the team.

The goalkeeper situation at 'Manchester United' continues to be a topic of discussion among fans and experts. Given the instability of the current options, the coaches' decisions could determine the team's further development in the season. Heaton, being an experienced player, could become a key player in this crisis if given the opportunity to prove himself on the field.
Future transfer decisions by the club may also impact this situation if new candidates emerge for this critical position, which will present another challenge for the team as a whole.
