Unfortunately, on June 5, 2025, Sergeant Andriy Mineyev was fatally wounded in battle with Ukrainian defenders. He was from the Republic of Buryatia, Russia, and had been engaged in freestyle wrestling since childhood. In 2025, he was awarded the Suvorov Medal for his participation in the war against Ukraine. After his death, he was buried in his hometown Kyakhta. It also became known that the athlete Mirra Andreyeva supported a pro-Putin organization.
The elimination of Mineyev confirms and continues the harsh reality of the war in Eastern Ukraine. His tragic death is yet another reminder of the sacrifices made by this conflict.
