Emotional Victory for Michael Conlan

According to The Sun: Michael Conlan couldn't hold back tears of joy after an impressive knockout against Jack Bateson during his return to Dublin.

The former interim WBA featherweight champion amazed everyone with his performance, knocking out 31-year-old Bateson on Friday night.

Post-Fight Declaration

The fight ended in the fourth round thanks to a stunning right punch. Bateson attempted to get up, but the proud punch proved fatal.

The referee stopped the fight, which thrilled the fans at 3Arena.

Conlan was filled with emotions, and tears of joy flowed as he realized he had won. He shouted:

‘I’m back!’

Michael, who suffered a heavy knockout from Leigh Wood three years ago, now has 4 wins and 2 losses in his last six fights. He shared his impressions in a post-fight interview:

‘This is very special — to return to Dublin for the first time in ten years, having my first professional fight here.’

 

‘I want to bring big boxing back to Ireland, we are huge, and this fan base is significant, I’m very proud of that.’

Prospects for Conlan

Conlan is confident that he has now 'returned' after the impressive knockout of Bateson.

He noted:

‘The finish was what we worked on in training, my coach Grant Smith is a true master.’

 

‘I feel strong and fit, I feel great.’

Boxing fans are eagerly waiting to see if Conlan can return to the world stage and win a title from one of the many belts, but for now, he undoubtedly deserves a well-earned rest before new challenges in the gym, where he has a relatively new head coach, Grant Smith.
