IMF Mission Kicks Off Program Review in Kyiv — Key Decisions Ahead.
IMF Team Meets with Ukrainian Officials
According to Novyny.live: A delegation from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has begun discussions with Ukrainian authorities in Kyiv, marking the first review of the Extended Fund Facility (EFF) program alongside the 2026 Article IV consultation. The mission is led by Gavin Gray, with Priscilla Toffano serving as the IMF’s resident representative in Ukraine.
The IMF team arrived in the capital on May 27. In March 2026, Ukraine received a $1.5 billion disbursement under a new four-year EFF arrangement, which totals $8.1 billion. Current projections suggest that the funds from the IMF will sustain Ukraine’s needs until approximately June 2026.
Priscilla Toffano stated: 'The IMF mission, headed by Gavin Gray, today initiated meetings with Ukrainian government officials and other partners as part of the first review of the Extended Fund Facility and the 2026 Article IV consultation under the IMF’s Articles of Agreement.'
These talks aim to assess the program’s performance and outline the next steps in the IMF’s collaboration with Ukraine.
Why These IMF Meetings Matter
The discussions between the IMF and Ukrainian authorities represent a critical phase for ensuring the country’s economic stability, as funding from the institution helps sustain the national budget and drive structural reforms. The review and forward-looking dialogue also have the potential to shape confidence among international investors and partners, especially given the ongoing security and economic challenges facing the region.
