City without a head. The head of the OVA explained how Zhytomyr will live without a mayor.
The situation in Zhytomyr remains under control even after former mayor Serhiy Sukhomlyn prematurely resigned - this was stated by the head of the Zhytomyr OVA Vitaliy Bunechko in an interview with Glavkom. He noted that Sukhomlyn initially intended to serve in the Armed Forces of Ukraine but then received an offer to head the Recovery Agency. Bunechko expressed confidence that the situation in the city will continue to be well managed by Ms. Halyna Shymanska, who is currently running the city.
Bunechko also noted that there is stable interaction between the city and regional councils in Zhytomyr, and political flags remain in the reception area during the conflict.
Recall that at an extraordinary session of the Zhytomyr City Council, deputies voted for the early termination of the powers of the city mayor Serhiy Sukhomlyn, and for now, his duties are being performed by Halyna Shymanska.
Serhiy Sukhomlyn was elected mayor of Zhytomyr in 2015, and in 2020 he was re-elected for a second term. In Zaporizhzhia, a new acting mayor was also elected - Regina Kharchenko.
