New Customs Pilot Project: Which Cars Will Be Inspected Starting June 8.
Pilot Project Launch
According to Novyny.live: Starting June 8, 2026, the State Customs Service of Ukraine will begin a pilot project focused on inspecting customs declarations for used vehicles. This initiative will run until December 31, 2026, aiming to tighten oversight in vehicle processing. A preliminary phase will conclude on June 30, 2026, serving as a critical step before full implementation.
Declaration Inspection Mechanism
Under the pilot, an automated system will randomly select 50% of submitted declarations for review. This means half of all used car declarations will undergo checks, designed to boost the efficiency of customs control for imported vehicles.
This enhanced scrutiny is part of the State Customs Service of Ukraine's broader efforts to refine customs procedures and curb potential fraud in car imports. The pilot introduces new operational conditions for customs officers and market participants, while also increasing transparency in the clearance process.
The launch of this pilot project for used car declarations could significantly reshape Ukraine's automotive market. Stricter controls may reduce fraud and improve clearance quality, while the automated selection system could save customs officers time and resources, ultimately enhancing the overall efficiency of the customs service.
