The International Sailing Federation has extended the suspension of Russians.
The International Sailing Federation (World Sailing) has extended the suspension of Russians until May. This is reported by 'Glavkom'.
It was decided that the board would be provided with a document on the options for admitting neutral athletes. For three months (until the beginning of May), the temporary suspensions will remain in effect - this is stated in the World Sailing document.
World Sailing suspended Russian athletes from competitions on March 1, 2022, after the start of the Russian full-scale invasion.
On March 19, 2024, the International Sailing Federation allowed Russians to obtain neutral statuses so they could qualify for the Olympics in Paris. At that time, only Yelizaveta Zherebtsova and Mykhailo Ushkov received neutral status, but they were unable to qualify for the Olympic Games.
Friends and colleagues of the eliminated Russian occupier Oleksandr Rabotnytskyi, who was a medalist of the Paralympic Games, were shocked that the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation signed a contract with a person diagnosed with 'organic brain damage'.
31-year-old Rabotnytskyi served as a section commander in the reconnaissance company. His family and friends were not informed of the circumstances surrounding the occupier's death.
'I found out after the fact that Sashka was taken to the war. With his diagnosis - where to? I believe Sashko did not go there [to war] out of a good life, he could not adapt to normal life. There were problems with the apartment, with housing' - said one of the athletes who trained with Rabotnytskyi.
Close associates of the athlete say that after he ended his professional career about a year ago, he developed a gambling addiction.
Oleksandr Rabotnytskyi is a Honored Master of Sports of Russia in athletics among athletes with intellectual disabilities, a silver medalist of the Paralympic Games in Tokyo in 2021, a three-time champion, a silver and bronze medalist of world championships, a champion and silver medalist of European championships, a three-time European indoor champion, and a multiple champion of Russia.
