IOC denied accreditation for Russian propagandists to the 2026 Olympic Games
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) denied accreditation for Russian propagandists for the 2026 Winter Olympic Games. This was reported by 'Glavkom'.
'Thank you for your inquiry regarding press accreditation for the 2026 Winter Olympic Games. In addition to our previous message, we would like to inform you that at this stage we have decided to grant press accreditation only to organizations from Russia that specialize exclusively in covering sporting events. However, please note that we will place your request on the waiting list and review the situation this fall', - the IOC press service informed Russian propagandists from TASS.
Innovations at the 2028 Olympics
The participation of women in sports competitions at the 2028 Olympics will be historic, as their number will surpass that of men for the first Time. Additionally, the updated program will feature six new mixed disciplines.
The total quota of athletes in Los Angeles will be 10,500, with women receiving 5,333 spots, while men will have 5,167. This will mark the first Olympic Games with more women than men.
New disciplines and team distribution
IOC reduced the number of men's football teams at the 2028 Olympics in favor of women's teams. The women’s football tournament will have 16 teams, while the men’s will have only 12. Additionally, the number of teams in women’s water polo will increase from 10 to 12. The program will also include one more women’s weight category in boxing, as well as seven disciplines in both men’s and women’s tournaments.
The updated program of the 2028 Olympic Games will feature six new mixed disciplines, such as archery, artistic gymnastics, athletics (mixed 4x100 m relay), rowing (mixed double sculls), golf, and table tennis.
