Poland bans the import of lard and sausage: what else will be denied at the border

Ukrainians not only peek into neighboring Poland but sometimes try to cross the border with prohibited items in their luggage. This can cause troubles and disturb Polish border guards, up to refusal of entry. Ukrainian in Poland has prepared a list of products that cannot be brought into Poland.

Which products cannot be imported into Poland

Polish border guards are particularly thorough in checking food. It is not worth risking and hiding prohibited products from customs officers:

  • all types of sausage, hot dogs, and mettwurst;
  • fresh meat;
  • canned meat;
  • industrial canned goods;
  • all types of lard;
  • dairy and fermented dairy products.

'It is better not to puzzle customs officers and not to try to smuggle prohibited goods. This could result in a hefty fine or even criminal liability', warns the portal.

Not only food can cause problems at the border. It is also important to remember the rules for transporting cash.

Declaring cash currency

If you have a large amount of cash, more than 10,000 euros, be prepared for declaration. Supporting documents for the origin of the funds will also be required. And try not to hide currency because this could cost dearly — a fine and confiscation of money are undesirable for any traveler.

Thus, when crossing the border with Poland, remember the prohibited products and the importance of adhering to customs rules so that your trip does not take unexpected turns.
