Over 100 Vehicles Queue at Shehyni as Traffic Surges on Ukraine-Poland Border.
Weekend Travel Spike Strains Ukraine-Poland Border Crossings
According to Novyny.live: A significant rise in passenger traffic, particularly for those entering Ukraine, has been observed at the Ukraine-Poland border over the weekend. The busiest congestion is reported at the Shehyni and Krakivets checkpoints. At Shehyni, more than 100 cars are lined up waiting to cross into Ukraine, while at Krakivets, approximately 30 vehicles are in the queue.
This uptick in movement is attributed to the weekend, the end of school holidays, and the approaching Easter holiday. Svitlana Burda, spokesperson for the 7th Border Guard Carpathian Detachment, stated that these trends are due to a growing number of people crossing the frontier.
Poland Allocates 450 Million Zloty for Border Reinforcement
In related developments, Poland has announced plans to spend 450 million zloty on strengthening its border infrastructure. However, officials predict that the current strain on border crossings will ease roughly one week after the Easter celebrations.
“Some of them are caught right on the border line, while others are intercepted even before reaching it,” said Andriy Demchenko.
The surge in passenger flow at the Ukraine-Poland border highlights the impact of seasonal factors such as holidays and vacations on citizen mobility. It also points to heightened activity by border guards, likely linked to the broader regional situation and security control needs. Monitoring these shifts in traffic and Poland’s reinforcement measures will be key to understanding future developments along this corridor.
