The Armed Forces of Ukraine eliminated a titled Buryat wrestler.

The defense forces destroyed the occupier Yuri Balzhinimaev, a freestyle wrestling athlete. This was reported by 'Glavkom'.Yuri Balzhinimaev was born on December 14, 1975. He began practicing freestyle wrestling in school and continued to do so as a student. He became a candidate for master of sports in freestyle wrestling and was a multiple champion and prize-winner of various competitions.In October 2023, Balzhinimaev went to war against Ukraine after signing a contract with the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation. He served as the commander of the 5th platoon of the 1st assault company. However, on February 21, 2025, he was killed by the defense forces in the Kursk region.It was also reported that one of the athletes who trained with the eliminated Russian occupier Alexander Rabotnitsky said he was shocked by the fact that the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation signed a contract with a person diagnosed with 'organic brain damage'.Rabotnitsky, who was a Paralympic medalist, served as a squad commander in the reconnaissance company. His friends and relatives did not receive information about the circumstances of his death. All this became known post factum, as no one knew that Rabotnitsky went to war with such a diagnosis as organic brain damage.Also, the athlete's family claims that after the end of his professional career, he developed a gambling addiction. He had many debts and saw the war as the only way out. After that, a decision was made to go to war, which cost him his life.Alexander Rabotnitsky was killed on March 23. According to Russian sources, he decided to volunteer and defend his homeland. Rabotnitsky was second in the Tokyo Paralympics in the 1500 meters in the T20 category in September 2021.
