Marco Rubio on peace in Ukraine: The U.S. is assessing what compromises both sides are willing to make.
According to ТСН: U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio believes that Russia and Ukraine must find compromises to end the war. American partners are currently assessing the willingness of both sides to do so.
Rubio's Comments
Rubio noted:
"Ending the war will require both sides to 'give something', and the U.S. is clarifying 'what both sides are willing to give'.
He also remarked that he is not sure whether Putin wants to conclude an agreement or if his goal is the annexation of all of Ukraine. These issues, he said,
"have not been openly discussed".
Aims and Achievements During the War
In Rubio's opinion,
"We know what they aimed to achieve initially when the war started. They have not achieved these goals".
He also speculated about when peace might be possible in Ukraine.
The process of peace negotiations is always complicated, and the opinions of international experts have long indicated the need for compromises. Such comments may provide an important impetus for future meetings between representatives of Ukraine and Russia, especially in the context of the ongoing war.
