Dozens of illegal border-crossing networks shut down by Ukrainian police, with fees reaching up to €20,000.
Cracking Down on Human Smuggling
According to Novyny.live: Ukraine's National Police have dismantled dozens of illegal schemes designed to smuggle men out of the country, operating across multiple regions. The Strategic Investigations Department of the National Police reported that these operations involved organizing group crossings of up to six people or offering individual services. Prices for these services ranged from €3,000 to €20,000.
Individuals from Ukraine's border regions were involved in these smuggling networks. During the investigation, law enforcement conducted searches at the suspects' locations, uncovering extensive evidence of criminal activity. Those implicated in organizing the crossings have already been notified of suspicion of committing a crime. Preliminary estimates suggest the organizers may have earned over 10 million hryvnias from these schemes.
Law Enforcement in Action
In addition, the Security Service of Ukraine recently detained a person in Poltava who was coordinating Russian attacks. In Lviv, a police officer and a military enlistment office employee were arrested for demanding bribes. These incidents highlight the ongoing efforts of law enforcement agencies to combat corruption and crime related to human smuggling across the border.
These events demonstrate the increasing activity of Ukrainian law enforcement in fighting organized crime, particularly in the realm of illegal human smuggling. Given the substantial sums pocketed by the organizers, tackling these schemes has become a critical part of the country's overall security strategy and its efforts to protect citizens from criminal acts. Furthermore, the arrests of individuals involved in corruption within law enforcement structures signal a commitment to reforming the system and enhancing its effectiveness against criminal activities.
