The bloodiest occupied square meters in history: Sybigga named Russia's losses in the war.
Ukrainian Foreign Ministry: Russia loses one and a half thousand soldiers a day in the war with Ukraine
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybigga reported that Russia loses about one and a half thousand soldiers daily in the war with Ukraine. In ten days, Russia's losses equal the total number of Soviet casualties in Afghanistan over ten years.
The minister noted that this is the bloodiest occupied territory in history, indicating the low value of human life in Russia. He also spoke about the shelling of residential buildings, executions and torture of Ukrainian prisoners of war, as well as crimes against children.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, since the beginning of 2022, Russia has destroyed at least 659 Ukrainian children and continues to commit crimes against them. The minister called the forced deportation of about 20 thousand Ukrainian children the largest child abduction operation in history conducted by the state. He also noted that Russia's actions violate the Genocide Convention.
The minister also discussed Russia's closeness to North Korea and Iran, which pose threats to international security. These countries seek to obtain military technology from Russia for their military programs.
Sybigga noted that Russia is also waging war for Ukraine's natural resources. Moscow is trying to seize rich deposits of manganese ore, uranium, titanium, and other resources. Even the maritime blockade of Ukrainian ports has led to food shortages and rising prices on the global market. The war also slows global economic growth and increases inflation.
The minister called for tougher sanctions against Russia, as Moscow plans to allocate significant funds for military needs next year. Sybigga emphasized the need to develop new mechanisms for accountability for the crime of aggression and to hold Russia accountable for its actions.
In conclusion, the minister urged countries not to equate Ukraine and Russia, as Russia is the aggressor while Ukraine is defending itself. The false moral equivalence must end.
