MP reported when the draft law on demobilization will be written.
The Secretary of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security, Defense, and Intelligence Roman Kostenko stated that the draft law on demobilization will be written by mid-autumn 2024. Discussions on this matter have already taken place with the Cabinet of Ministers and representatives of the General Staff.
Kostenko noted that the timeline for writing the draft law is approximately mid-autumn. Regarding the specific timing of demobilization, whether it will only establish mechanisms related to the president's decree or other factors, it is currently unknown.
During the discussion of the draft law, representatives of the General Staff were also present. One of the important issues raised concerned the pace of mobilization and the possibility of writing the draft law. Kostenko is confident that the draft law will be developed, but there is no clarity regarding specific timelines yet.
Given the temporality of mobilization and the different approach to it, setting specific deadlines is considered impractical. More likely, the draft law will contain conditions for demobilization tied to the president's decree or other factors.
Currently, the government does not plan to demobilize soldiers who have been serving since the beginning of the invasion. There are no legislative initiatives regarding this.
Recently, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky announced the rotation in some brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
