Ukrainian Armed Forces' offensive in Kursk region changed the rules of the game in the war - CNN.
Russian forces launched a counterattack in the Kursk region
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Russian forces have launched a counteroffensive in the Kursk region. This was in response to the previous entry of the Ukrainian Armed Forces into this region. Zelensky noted that Ukraine expected such a reaction from Russia and the counterattack aligns with the "Ukrainian plan".
The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reported that Russian forces have "penetrated" into the Kursk region and captured 10 settlements. The situation in the region forced Russia to strengthen its defense and conserve forces by withdrawing thousands of soldiers from the occupied territory of Ukraine. This broke Putin's promise not to use conscripts on the front line.
Experts note that Ukraine's tactic of breaking through the Russian border has shocked Kyiv's allies and changed the rules of the game in this protracted war.
