EU Membership for Ukraine is Years Away, Dutch PM States.
Ukraine's EU Membership Prospects
According to TSN.ua: Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof has stated that while Ukraine can become a member of the European Union, the process will take several years. Schoof noted that, theoretically, accession by January 1, 2027, is possible, but he emphasized the need for honesty regarding the timeline. The Netherlands, a founding EU member, has historically been cautious about rapid enlargement.
Schoof stressed that the Netherlands does not wish to destabilize the European Union by hastily admitting new countries. In light of the dynamic situation, Ukraine's Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration, Taras Kachka, has also acknowledged the importance of a lengthy integration process.
The Need for a Measured Approach
Therefore, Ukraine's future in the EU depends on numerous factors requiring careful analysis and a deliberate approach.
The comments from the Dutch Prime Minister reflect the complex process of integrating Ukraine into the EU, which involves not only political and economic aspects but also the need for regional stability.
