The club banned micro-shorts after a player's injury
A non-league football club decided to ban micro-shorts after one of the players suffered a serious leg injury. Reilly Malin, a footballer from Ifracombe Town, suffered a double fracture – of the fibula and tibia – while trying to get past the goalkeeper during a match against Bridport on Saturday. The South-West Peninsula League match was suspended while Malin received medical assistance.“It’s a terrible injury, and we had to make this decision in the interest of our players’ safety,” said the club's coach. The ban on micro-shorts aims to reduce the risk of similar injuries in the future. It is worth noting that similar incidents highlight the importance of safety on the football field. Clubs should always prioritize the health of players, considering that injuries can significantly impact not only the athletes' careers but also the entire team. This decision by Ifracombe Town may set an example for other teams looking to ensure their players' safety.
