Military Registration for Emigrants

According to Novyny.live: Young people who turn 17 while living outside Ukraine can now complete their military registration remotely using the 'Reserve+' application, eliminating the need to visit a territorial recruitment center in person. This update simplifies the process for Ukrainian youth residing abroad, making it more accessible and efficient.

Ukraine’s military registration system applies to all adult men up to the age of 60. It is important to note that conscripts are not required to undergo a military medical commission while martial law remains in effect. Additionally, being registered does not restrict entry or exit from Ukraine.

“Travel abroad is only limited for men aged 23 to 60,” stated Yuriy Ayvazyan.

Legislative Changes

Legal amendments introduced in 2025 have removed the requirement for first-time military registrants to physically visit a territorial recruitment center. This significantly eases the process, as emigrants can now use modern technology to fulfill this mandatory obligation.

“Yes, you will be able to travel if you have a foreign passport and 'Reserve+',” added Yuriy Ayvazyan.

As a result, the new rules allow 17-year-olds abroad to register for military service without unnecessary hurdles, thereby simplifying their participation in national defense matters even while overseas.

These updates represent a major step forward in streamlining military registration for Ukrainian emigrants, especially amid the ongoing state of martial law. They enable young people to meet their obligations more easily while maintaining freedom of movement—a critical factor for those who have left the country. The 'Reserve+' app reflects the government’s push to adopt innovative solutions that keep citizens connected, regardless of where they are in the world.
