Moldova’s New Prime Minister Given 15 Days to Assemble a Government.
Alexandru Tofan Appointed as Prime Minister
According to Espreso.tv: Alexandru Tofan now has a 15-day window to secure a parliamentary vote of confidence and establish a new government in Moldova. This timeline follows the resignation of former Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu, who stepped down on July 3 after stating he could no longer carry out his duties in line with his personal principles.
Commenting on his appointment, Alexandru Tofan said:
“It is a great honor to be here. I do not see this as an achievement, but as a tremendous responsibility, and I am fully committed to it. I will do everything in my power to meet the expectations of the Moldovan people.”
Priorities for the New Premier
Tofan plans to focus his efforts on:
- recovery,
- rebuilding and strengthening trust,
- economic revival,
- policy, governance, and business.
These areas will guide his work as prime minister moving forward.
The recent developments in Moldova highlight ongoing political instability in the country, which is in urgent need of reforms and economic improvement. The appointment of a new prime minister could be a pivotal step toward stabilization and closer integration with the European Union—a key strategic goal for the Moldovan government. However, Tofan’s success will ultimately depend on his ability to rally support from both parliament and the broader public.
