Banks will operate during the holidays: how to get cash on Christmas and New Year.

According to ТСН: During the winter holidays, namely on Christmas and New Year, there will be no days off for the banking system in Ukraine. The holiday breaks were canceled due to the martial law.

According to the resolution No. 146 of the National Bank of Ukraine, Ukrainians will be able to contact bank branches, use ATMs, as well as transfer and receive funds. However, the operation of the electronic payment system will have certain restrictions in the State Treasury Service.

Cash operations and customer service

On December 31, banks will carry out cash operations, and ATMs will ensure uninterrupted operation with cash in various denominations to serve customers.

On December 30, banks are required to:

• obtain cash from the National Bank or an authorized bank to replenish operational cash registers;

• carry out cash settlements.

Bank operating schedule in the new year

On January 1, emission and cash operations at the National Bank and in the banking system will take place according to the usual schedule. The electronic payment system will operate around the clock.

However, the regulator decided to restrict the operation of the electronic payment system for the State Treasury Service of Ukraine. From December 31, 2025, to January 1, 2026, payment and information messages for the Treasury through the electronic payment system will not be available.

As previously mentioned, the parliament proposes to deduct 2-3% from the incomes of Ukrainians for military deposits. This initiative was expressed by the secretary of the Committee of the Verkhovna Rada on National Security Issues Roman Kostenko. He emphasized that these funds could be used by the military after the war to repay loans, educate children, or purchase a car.

Thus, Ukrainians can plan their financial matters even during the holidays, although the electronic payment system will face certain difficulties. These measures aim to ensure the stability of the banking system under martial law while maintaining the availability of financial services for the population.
