Starting from March 1, 2025, Slovakia plans to reduce support for Ukrainian refugees. The main changes include shortening the stay in asylum centers from 120 to 60 days and reducing the period of housing assistance from 120 to 60 days.

Main changes include:

  • Reduction of the stay in asylum centers from 120 to 60 days.
  • Housing assistance will only be paid during the first 60 days instead of 120 days as it was before.

These changes will affect Ukrainian citizens seeking temporary protection in Slovakia. Officials argue that this is necessary to optimize resources.

Ukrainians in Slovakia should take these changes into account and plan their next steps in advance, including regarding employment and housing search.

According to Eurostat, nearly 4.2 million citizens who left Ukraine due to Russian aggression have received temporary protection in EU countries.

It is also noted that in 2025, Ukrainian refugees in Poland will be able to find work in several sectors, which will facilitate their further integration into the country. Experts predict that in the coming year, job vacancies for Ukrainian workers will be available in warehouses from various fields, including textiles, pharmacy products, printing, as well as warehouses with various parts.

Additionally, tensions are rising in the reception centers for Ukrainians in the Netherlands who are in the country due to Russian aggression.
