Cucumbers and carrots hit price records in Ukraine: how much will you have to pay for vegetables.
Prices for cucumbers in Ukraine are rapidly increasing, and carrots may become the most expensive vegetable among the borscht set. Analysts at EastFruit report this. Cucumber producers are finishing the growing season, while demand remains at the same level, leading to higher prices. Wholesale prices for cucumbers have reached 100-125 hryvnias per kilogram. Even imported supplies have not been able to satisfy demand, leading to further price increases. Carrot prices have also settled at 20-28 hryvnias per kilogram.
According to weekly monitoring data, most large greenhouse farms in Ukraine have completed the cycle of selling cucumbers of the last rotation. The quality of the products from some producers leaves much to be desired. Ukrainian producers are selling cucumbers 72% more expensive than the same period last year. Further price increases for cucumbers are predicted. An increase in imports may change this trend. There is a rise in carrot prices in the vegetable market.
