Occupiers could have attacked Zaporizhzhia with rare aerial bombs – Defense Express.
According to Defense Express, Russian forces may strike Zaporizhzhia with FAB-500T aerial bombs. The captured video of sappers working near the city suggests that they were defusing a Russian aerial bomb, which could have been equipped with a Unified Planning and Correction Module (UMPC).
The FAB-500T was created during Soviet times for use with reconnaissance and strike aircraft MiG-25RB. It is heat-resistant and designed to withstand high thermal loads, as the MiG-25RB could reach speeds up to 3 thousand km/h. According to Defense Express, the FAB-500T can fly up to 30-40 km depending on the aircraft's acceleration. The Unified Planning and Correction Module allows the bomb to fly even further. There is a possibility that the Russians have resumed production of such aerial bombs, as they showcased them in propaganda footage in March.
Defense Express believes that with the use of the Unified Planning and Correction Module, the range of the FAB-500T has significantly increased and may exceed 70 km, which is the standard range for enemy-produced aerial bombs.
Recall that on the night of September 22, Russian troops carried out airstrikes on Zaporizhzhia. Rescuers immediately arrived at the scene, evacuated residents from damaged homes, and extinguished the fire. As a result of these attacks, 22 people were injured. The next day, on September 23, the enemy continued massive airstrikes on the city, resulting in one fatality and six injuries, including two children.
Guided aerial bombs were first used by the enemy to attack Zaporizhzhia on September 22. This was noted by Ivan Fedorov, head of the Zaporizhzhia Operational Headquarters, who urged city residents to be more cautious during air alerts. He advises staying in shelters, and, if that is not possible, to follow the two-wall rule and monitor information from official sources.
