Alexandria has been punished ahead of an important UEFA match.
The matches of the second qualifying round of the Conference League between 'Alexandria' and the Serbian 'Partizan' will take place without away fans. This decision was made after analyzing potential risks and to maintain order, the press service of the Ukrainian club reported. The restrictions apply to both matches: the first match, which will take place on July 24 in Polish Katowice, and the return match on July 31 in Belgrade. Fans of the teams will not be allowed to support their sides away, and the guest sectors will remain empty.
What is known about the reasons for the decision
UEFA and the clubs have recognized this decision as the best option to prevent potential conflicts. Previously, a similar measure had already been applied in European competitions involving Ukrainian teams and has proven effective. The organizers assured that local spectators will be provided with maximum safety, and the atmosphere at the matches will remain sporting and controlled.
It should be noted that Kyiv's 'Dynamo' is interested in a young star of Croatian football. Ruslan Rotan invited one of the experienced players from 'Alexandria' to 'Polissya'. 'PSG' has returned to negotiations regarding the transfer of Illia Zabarnyi and improved the offer for the player. Kira Makohonenko showcased a star with whom Oleksandr Usyk could potentially compete in the future.
UEFA together with the clubs decided to hold matches without away fans to avoid possible conflicts and maintain a calm atmosphere. This decision has already been successfully applied in the past and aims to ensure the safety of players and fans during the game.
